Business Development Representative (BDR), Houston, TX
**Role Overview:**
As a Business Development Representative (BDR) at Palletized Trucking, you will play a critical role in generating new business opportunities, focusing on expanding our market presence in heavy haul, intermodal, storage, and dry van services. You will be responsible for prospecting, qualifying leads, and closing new business, with a strong emphasis on the Houston market.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify and target potential clients within key verticals, including oil & gas, construction, manufacturing, agriculture, and freight forwarding.
- Conduct daily cold calling and targeted calls to generate new leads, set appointments, and schedule face-to-face meetings.
- Engage with prospects to understand their transportation needs and provide tailored solutions, emphasizing Palletized Trucking's intermodal and heavy haul capabilities.
- Collaborate with the sales, operations, and senior leadership teams to develop strategies that align with the company's growth objectives.
- Manage and close new business opportunities, utilizing strong negotiation skills to ensure mutually beneficial agreements.
- Build and maintain a pipeline of qualified leads using CRM tools such as Salesforce, ensuring accurate record-keeping of interactions and sales progress.
- Understand the sales cycle expectations, industry verticals, and value propositions that Palletized Trucking offers.
- Participate in networking events, trade shows, and industry-specific conferences to build relationships and represent the company.
- Provide regular updates on sales activity, including weekly and monthly reports on prospecting efforts, opportunities, and closed business.
- Collaborate with the inside sales team, ensuring seamless handoffs of warm leads and transitioning qualified prospects into the sales funnel.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in sales, preferably within the logistics or transportation industry.
- Strong background in project management logistics is a bonus qualification.
- Demonstrated success in business development, with a track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
- In-depth knowledge of the Houston market and the ability to develop and close business opportunities within this region.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in CRM software, particularly Salesforce, for tracking leads, opportunities, and sales activities.
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, and be proactive in identifying and pursuing new business opportunities.
- A collaborative mindset, with the ability to work closely with cross-functional teams, including sales, operations, and leadership.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in carrier sales, with an understanding of intermodal and heavy haul services.
